Robert Boswell

Robert BoswellBob Boswell, chairman and CEO of Laramie Energy II LLC, formed Laramie I with more than $200 million in May 2004 and sold its Piceance Basin portfolio three years later for more than $1 billion. He and the team formed Laramie II in June 2007 and acquired underdeveloped assets in Garfield County, Colorado, building another Piceance portfolio. Prior to co-founding Laramie I, Boswell was chairman and CEO of Forest Oil Corp., which he joined as a director in 1987. Previously, he spent most of his career with Adams Affiliates, a Tulsa-based conglomerate, where he was CFO and, later, president and COO. He received his MBA from the University of Texas at Austin and his B.E. degree in Chemical Engineering, magna cum laude, from Vanderbilt University.


Mike Eberhard

Chief Operating Officer - Operations, Synergy Resources Corp.

Mike Eberhard Mike Eberhard, chief operating officer-operations for Synergy Resources Corp., is a petroleum engineer with more than 35 years of experience with Halliburton Co. and Anadarko Petroleum Corp. He has focused on unconventional- and horizontal-well completions for the past 10 years and has authored several papers for the Society of Petroleum Engineers. He received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Montana State University.


Paul Favret

Paul FavretPaul Favret is the CEO, President, and founder of Resource Energy and an accomplished oil and gas executive with 30+ years of industry experience. Prior to Resource, Mr. Favret was CEO/president for several E&P companies including Source Energy Partners, Abundant, Aspect, and Ascend. These companies focused on Domestic and International exploration and production in resource and conventional plays, drilling over 600 wells and producing over 30,000 BOED. He was also team lead, geophysicist, at his 12 year tenure at Amoco Production. Favret holds a B.S. and M.S. in Geology/Geophysics and a MBA. He has authored 7 US patents for a variety of exploration techniques mostly involving seismic.


Greg Hill

President and COO, Hess Corp.

Greg HillGreg Hill is president and chief operating officer of Hess Corporation, a global independent energy company engaged in the exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas. Hess is a leading shale oil and gas producer and a leader in deepwater production and development. Its global portfolio is focused in five strategic areas: onshore North America; deepwater Gulf of Mexico, the North Sea, offshore West Africa, and offshore Malaysia. The company is also engaged in exploration and appraisal activities in the Gulf of Mexico, Guyana, Australia and Nova Scotia. Prior to joining Hess in 2009, Hill spent 25 years at Shell in a variety of operations, engineering, technical and business leadership roles in Asia Pacific, Europe and the United States. This included serving as executive vice president – exploration and production of Singapore-based Shell Asia Pacific, vice president of production for Shell E&P Europe, and senior vice president of Aera Energy, a California-based joint venture affiliate of Shell and Mobil. Hill holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wyoming.


Svetlana Ikonnikova

Principal Investigator, Engineering, Statistical, and Economic Analysis, The University of Texas at Austin

Svetlana Ikonnikova Dr. Svetlana Ikonnikova is an Energy Economist in the Bureau of Economic Geology at The University of Texas at Austin. She received B.Sc. and M.S. degrees in applied mathematics and physics (Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Russia) and Ph.D. in economics and management science (Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany). Over the past ten years, she has been conducting research and lecturing on energy markets and energy industries developments, focusing on the electric power industry and renewable energy sustainability, natural gas supply, liquefied natural gas trade and shale gas economics in the U.S. and EU. Dr. Ikonnikova also participates in research on policy and regulation of natural resource supply and transmission. At present she leads a study on shale gas and oil production, predicting future production and investigating market implications.


Steve Mercer

Steve MercerSteve Mercer, chief executive officer of NP Resources LLC, which holds more than 80,000 net acres in the Williston Basin, was chairman, CEO and founder of North Plains Energy LLC and a partner in IPR Energy Partners LLC and InFlow Petroleum Resources LLC. Prior, he was a partner in Summit Partners Management Co. and a vice president with First City National Bank and Crocket National Bank. He began his career as a project engineer for Exxon USA. Mercer received his BS in Electrical Engineering, Computers and Telecommunications Systems from the University of Texas at Austin.


Eric Mullins

Co-CEO, Lime Rock Resources

Mark PearsonEric Mullins is co-CEO of Lime Rock Resources, a private-equity fund with about $2.4 billion under management. The funds focus on acquiring and developing low-risk oil and gas properties to generate returns for its investors. Mullins is one of the founders of Lime Rock Resources, which was formed in 2005. Prior to starting at Lime Rock Resources, Mullins was a managing director with Goldman Sachs in the Natural Resources Group in Houston. He was with Goldman Sachs for 15 years. Mullins was promoted to managing director in 1999. His area of specialization was oil- and gas-related mergers and acquisitions and oil- and gas-related equity and debt financings. Mullins serves on the board of directors for Anadarko Petroleum Corp. and as chairman of the Audit Committee; serves on the board of directors of the PG&E Corp. and Pacific Gas and Electric Co.; serves on the Audit Committee at PG&E; and serves on the board of directors for Baylor College of Medicine. Mullins received his master's degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1990 and his bachelor's degree from Stanford University in 1984.


Mark Pearson

President, Liberty Resources

Mark PearsonDr. C. Mark Pearson is president of Liberty Resources II LLC, a Denver-based operator in the Bakken Shale of North Dakota and the Powder River Basin in Wyoming. He is a well-known industry expert in the field of well completion and stimulation and has authored over forty technical papers covering field development, "fracking", and production aspects of oil and gas operations. He has focused his career on technology advancements within the industry and is one of the pioneers of multi-stage hydraulic fracturing of horizontal wells with over thirty years of horizontal work in west Texas, Alaska, the North Sea, the US mid-Continent, North Dakota and Wyoming. Pearson graduated with BS and PhD degrees from the Camborne School of Mines, UK and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program. He also served as a professor in the Petroleum Engineering Department of the Colorado School of Mines from 1995-1997.


Joe Quoyeser

Senior Expert - McKinsey & Co.

Joe Quoyeser is a senior expert in the Houston office of McKinsey & Co. Within the oil and gas practice, he leads the firm’s service to independent producers and is part of its oil and gas private-equity team. In addition, he serves on the Industry Advisory Board of the Petroleum Engineering Department at Texas A&M University. He has more than 25 years of experience in consulting to the oil and gas industry and began his career in reservoir engineering with Exxon in the Permian Basin and Rocky Mountains. He received his BS in Chemical Engineering from Rice University and MBA from Northwestern University.


Kumar Ramurthy

Technology Director - Rockies, Halliburton Co.

Kumar RamurthyDr. Muthukumarappan "Kumar" Ramurthy is Halliburton's senior business development technology manager for the Rockies, West Coast and Alaska. He joined Halliburton in 1998 as a field engineer; has more than 18 years of conventional and unconventional reservoir and stimulation engineering experience with Halliburton. He has authored several SPE papers and is a co-author of "Coalbed Methane-Principles and Practices" a CBM book that was published in 2008. Also as co-author, he taught the course "Unconventional Reservoir Stimulation: CBM and Shales" to the oil and gas industry in the USA, Canada, India, Indonesia, Columbia and Australia. Dr. Ramurthy has served in several SPE technical committees and also serves as a technical editor for the SPE Production & Operations and SPE Reservoir Engineering Journals. Dr. Ramurthy received his bachelor of engineering in mechanical engineering from India, M. S. in petroleum engineering from Mississippi State University and his doctorate in petroleum engineering from the University of Wyoming.


Scott Reasoner

COO, PDC Energy Inc.

Scott ReasonerScott Reasoner was appointed chief operating officer in January 2017. He was appointed senior vice president operations in January 2015 after joining the Company in April 2008 as vice president of western operations. Reasoner has over 30 years of technical and management experience in the energy industry. Before joining PDC, he served as a business unit manager with Noble Energy Inc. where he was responsible for the Mid-Continent team. Prior to his work with Noble Energy, Reasoner worked for Patina Oil and Gas Company as production manager and later as vice president operations. His earlier experience includes positions with Snyder Oil Corporation and Vessels Oil and Gas Company. Reasoner is a graduate of the Colorado School of Mines with a degree in Petroleum Engineering, has earned an MBA from the University of Colorado, and is a Registered Professional Engineer.


Taylor L. Reid

President and Chief Operating Officer, Oasis Petroleum Inc.

Taylor L. Reid SpeakerTaylor L. Reid, president and chief operating officer of Oasis Petroleum Inc., co-founded the Williston Basin-focused operator in 2007. Previously, Reid worked the basin for Burlington Resources Inc., including during its tests of the upper Bakken shale in the late 1980s and early 1990s in western North Dakota. With Burlington, Reid also worked in the Permian, Anadarko and Western Canadian Sedimentary basins and was general manager, Latin and Asia operations, and general manager, corporate A&D. After Burlington’s merger with ConocoPhillips in 2006, Reid was asset manager, Permian and Panhandle operations. He received his Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Stanford University.


Jack Stark

President and COO, Continental Resources Inc.

Jack StarkJack Stark, president and COO of Continental Resources Inc., joined the company in 1992 and was its senior vice president of exploration from 1998 to 2014. Prior to joining Continental as its vice president of exploration in 1992, he was the exploration manager for the western Midcontinent region for Pacific Enterprises. From 1978 to 1988, he held various staff and middle-management positions with Cities Service Co. and TXO Production Corp. Stark holds a master's degree in Geology from Colorado State University.


Dr. Scott Tinker

Director, Bureau of Economic Geology, The University of Texas at Austin

Scott TinkerScott Tinker's passion is bringing academe, government, industry and NGOs together into what he calls the "radical middle" to address major societal issues in energy, environment and the economy. Scott is director of the 250-person Bureau of Economic Geology, the State Geologist of Texas, and a professor holding the Allday Endowed Chair in the Jackson School of Geosciences at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Tinker has been president of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, the Association of American State Geologists, the Gulf Coast Association of Geological Societies, and is the current president of the American Geosciences Institute. Tinker, who has visited over 50 countries and given over 600 keynote and invited lectures to government, industry, academia and the public, is a Halbouty Leadership Medalist, Boyd Medalist, Fellow of the Geologic Society of America, honorary member of the AAPG, and has been broadly awarded for his success in engaging the public in science. Tinker serves on many private, public, academic, and government boards and councils and co-produced and is featured in the award-winning energy documentary film, Switch, which has been seen by over 10 million viewers.‎


Jim Volker

Chairman, President and CEO, Whiting Petroleum Corp.

(Jim) Volker, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Whiting Petroleum Corp., joined Whiting Oil and Gas Corp. in 1983 as vice president of corporate development and was named executive vice president and chief operating officer in 2000. Prior to joining Whiting, he was co-founder, vice president and, later, president of Energy Management Corp. He holds a degree in finance from the University of Denver, an MBA from the University of Colorado and has completed the H.K. VanPoolen and Associates course of study in reservoir engineering.
